Estilo Neo-románico en Olot

Al estar en los Jardines Clará, llama la atención la monumetalidad de la fachada de la Escuela Pía de Olot, ubicada en el número 9, y su simetría.

El edificio, que data de 1877, es de estilo neo-románico y los planos del archivo, aparecen firmados por Manel Roca y el arquitecto E. Pujol.

El diseño y la proporción del conjunto, se compara con frecuencia a la arquitectura realizada por Elies Rogent.

En este edificio se valoran varios aspectos, entre ellos su historia y la referencia simbólica que tiene en la ciudad, además de los rasgos arquitectónicos visibles de la época.

Se protege, en documentos, la fachada del conjunto sobre la Plaza, considerada patrimonio de la ciudad.

Un edificio con historia

Realmente a mí también me llamó mucho la atención esta escuela de los Padres Escolapios, por la magnificencia de su edificación, su antigüedad y el perfecto estado en el que se encuentra. Realmente da gusto cruzarse desde la Plaza Clará para admirarla. Por lo que tengo entendido también el Padre Enrique Canadell, oriundo de esta ciudad fue apresado y fusilado por no renegar de su fe a los 48 años de edad y es uno de los Santos Mártires de Olot. Como bien dicen Barcelona ha sido cuna de mártires.
